while doing the usual lab-daily duties (riveting. no? haha)
my lab-mate asked me this question
“what makes you feel most alive?”
and it made me think, hard
it’s not a question of what for me, it’s which one

I’ll update this space when my brain is not pre-occupied

in other news,
and a note to self
stop overthinking
be it positive
or negative
it’s just not healthy
either it brings you down
it builds up hope and you get intrigued by its novelty
and you become fascinated with its (probable) promises
and you start painting a picture of what it may be, could be or should be
nuh-uh, I ain’t going down that road (regrettably, again)

just get it out
obliterate it
crruuuusssshhhh it
okay OTT, but you get the picture

best chocolate chip cookie recipe (ever)

I think I finally cracked the code for the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever
I don’t know about you
but the way I google for recipes is
‘best (insert food here) recipe ever/in the world’
and I look at the reviews and just test them out

so I’m kinda like a chocolate chip cookie connoisseur (can’t even spell that right ha.)
I like my cookies crispy on the outside and ooey gooey on the insides
and for my choc chips to be a little bit bitter to balance out the sweet dough
hugging my choc chips (wait, what?)

I’ve made a lot of chocolate chip cookies in the past
and they’ve always ended up being all like a cross between brownies and cookies
which is equally as nice, but not what I wanted
and the other day I had a craving for cookies so I googled
and found this recipe
made ’em today and I think this is a recipe defo worth having to give to my grandkids (lol)

at this point
I’ve eaten probably 5 so far
(and the day just started ruh roh)
got this recipe from here

125 g of unsalted butter
1 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp of vanilla essence
1 cup of self-raising flour
3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
1 tsp of baking powder
1 cup (OR MORE) of dark chocolate chips

1. Melt the butter in the microwave for 30 s to 1 min. Don’t do what I did and let it whiz in the microwave for 2 mins. butter, everywhere (minus 5 domestic goddess points) – let it cool-ish
2. So as per usual, I didn’t have enough ingredients, and today’s shortage was of brown sugar. To solve this problem, I just topped up the rest with white sugar  – it ended up being the other way around. Mix the sugar into the melted butter and whisk till the sugar is kinda dissolved
3. The recipe said to lightly beat the egg. And here I am thinking, “lightly? how light is lightly” but I just kinda whisked it as you would to make scrambled eggs before the bubble – stage (if you know what I mean)
4. Chuck the whisked egg and vanilla essence into the bowl and whisk away
5. Then I sifted the flour and baking powder together into another bowl and added the flour mixture in parts into the wet ingredients (am still using the whisk at this stage)
6. Then make it rain with chocolate chips – I added some chopped dark choc bits into it too (because of the chocolate chip shortage I have in my pantry lol)
7. I used a tablespoon to ration it into balls and I kinda halved the ball and smoosh it together with the rough sides on top
8. Pop that in the oven for 10-12 mins. I think 11 min would be the sweet spot for getting them crispy chewy cookies.
9. After letting them cool – devour cookies (preferably with milk)

podjuice for the week and probably the perfect song for a rainy sunday is this amazing cover of Radiohead’s Creep by PMJ

potatoes gonna potate

you know what I don’t get to do very often?
turning off the master of my days – the alarm clock
today was one of those days and it feels pretty darn good

second win of the day
woke up and it was raining, and it’s all comfy under the covers
this was not a sunday morning, but if it was, that sunday morning song by maroon 5 would be perfect.

third win – played my keyboard
and I am so rusty
back home, I’d play the piano almost every day
going through all my piano books finding my favourite songs
sometimes I forget how music really helps me relieve my stress
and just screws my head back properly
kinda tweaking it a bit

figure below depicts me (le potato) waking up this morning.

When a bird is alive, it eats ants. When the bird is dead, ants eat the bird. One tree makes a million match sticks. Only one match stick needed to burn a million trees. Time and Circumstance can change at any moment. Do not devalue or hurt anyone in life. You may be powerful this time, but remember: Time is more powerful than you. So be good and do good.
—  The Buddha

What I really really want to do right now is binge on freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and cold milk and crawl into bed, underneath my duvet and cry, cry my stress out

but no,
I’m an adult and ergo I would not do that
also, I don’t have milk nor cookies

clarity, y u no come to me?

settling for my other comfort food, maggi curreh come into my belleh

progress on life so far;

almost halfway through the degree
just need to pass  the checkpoint and save the progress
getting a fireflower would be great too
(just sayin’)

dyed my hair for the very first time
though my hair is the blackest of black
to match my dark abyss-ish eyes
it turned out ever so slightly brown
(disclaimer: needs to be seen under UV rays for maximum effect)

I can finally cut a mango into decent pieces
without massacring the mango into mush
and accidentally turning it into mango lassi
domestic goddess points +1

and podjuice of the day
